Devil's Thumb Golf Course

Devil’s Thumb Golf Course is a public 18-hole layout in the foothills north of Delta, Colorado. Originally called Cottonwood Golf Course, it opened as a nine-hole track in 1963 and was expanded to 18 holes in 2001. The par-72 course plays 6,878 yards with a rating of 72.6 and a slope of 126. In 2017, it was voted the third-best public or resort course in Colorado.

The fairways roll through rock formations and prairie terrain with clear views of Grand Mesa and the surrounding mountain ranges. Greens are well-maintained, and the hilly layout rewards accurate iron play. The course draws golfers from Delta, Montrose, and the North Fork Valley, serving as one of the Western Slope’s better public options.
