About This Course

Fenwick Golf Course holds the distinction of being Connecticut’s oldest public course. The first three holes were laid out in 1894, with the full nine-hole layout completed by 1896 in the Borough of Fenwick. The course occupies a striking point of land where the Connecticut River empties into Long Island Sound, offering views of the water, the lighthouse, and Katharine Hepburn’s former home along the way.

Golf carts are restricted to residents who live on the course, so visitors walk with a pull cart provided by the club. This walking-only policy preserves the course’s old-fashioned character and keeps the pace relaxed. At 2,840 yards and par 35, the holes are short enough to manage on foot but shaped to test accuracy. Osprey and bald eagles are regular visitors overhead, adding to the coastal setting that makes this nine unlike any other in the state.
