About This Course

Vineyard Valley Golf Club occupies land that was a grape vineyard from 1972 to 1990, producing grapes for Hamlet Hill Winery. Gus Loos designed the first five holes in 1985 as a private course for family and friends, and the layout eventually grew to nine holes open to the public. The par-36 course plays 3,033 yards across steeply sloped terrain in Pomfret Center.

Three holes run straight up or down the hillside, while the remaining six travel across the slope, producing a constant mix of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. Flat stances are rare anywhere on the property. A driving range and two practice greens supplement the course. The Quiet Corner of northeastern Connecticut provides the setting, far from the state’s more densely developed golf corridors.
