The Villages Executive Golf Trail, Turtle Mound Course

The Turtle Mound Course references Florida’s ancient Native American shell mounds, archaeological landmarks found along the state’s Atlantic coast where Indigenous people deposited oyster shells over centuries. The name gives the course a sense of connection to Florida’s deeper history, an unusual touch for an executive layout. As with other trail courses, the design is short-format and built for accurate, precise play rather than power off the tee.

Located in Lady Lake, the Turtle Mound Course is part of The Villages’ residents-only executive golf trail. The trail’s mix of natural, historical, and wildlife-themed names reflects the community’s effort to give each course a distinct identity. Residents can access Turtle Mound and the other Lady Lake courses through their community golf membership, with play restricted to members and invited guests.
