Georgia Golf Courses
Georgia has over 440 golf courses, roughly three-quarters of them 18-hole layouts, and a permanent link to the sport through The Masters at Augusta National each April. The Atlanta metro holds the highest concentration, with courses spread across Alpharetta, Marietta, Roswell, Johns Creek, and the suburbs south through Peachtree City and Newnan. Piedmont red clay and rolling pine-and-hardwood corridors shape many of these layouts. Pricing in the metro area runs Standard to Premium, while smaller-town courses downstate tend toward Economy.
South of the fall line, terrain flattens and temperatures stay warmer. Savannah has a strong cluster of courses winding through live oaks and salt marshes, and the Golden Isles around Saint Simons Island draw destination golfers to coastal layouts. Augusta supports both public and private options beyond its famous private club. In the middle of the state, Macon and the Lake Oconee area around Greensboro offer resort-style golf on reservoir shorelines.
North Georgia plays differently. The Blue Ridge foothills near Clayton and Jasper bring elevation changes and cooler summer temperatures, but a shorter season that closes most courses by late November. Statewide, spring and fall produce the best conditions, though the southern half is effectively open year-round. With 44 city pages in the directory, golfers can drill into specific clusters across every region.
