Wakefield Valley Golf Club

Wakefield Valley Golf Club was a semi-private 27-hole facility in Westminster featuring three 9-hole courses: the Green, White, and Gold. These could be paired in different combinations to produce three distinct 18-hole championship experiences. The property transitioned into a private club in the late 1970s and operated for decades as one of Carroll County’s primary golf destinations.

By the 2010s, rising maintenance costs and economic pressures led to foreclosure and eventual closure. The City of Westminster has since acquired the former golf course land and is developing Wakefield Valley Park, with plans for multipurpose playing fields, a dog park, playground, an event pavilion and amphitheater, and a possible fishing pier at one of the property’s ponds. The site’s golf chapter is over, but its recreational use continues in a new form.
