About This Course
The Tarratine Club of Dark Harbor was founded on September 2, 1896, on the island of Islesboro in Penobscot Bay. Originally established to promote boating and golf among the summer colony, the club organized its golf course in 1912 and moved to the present site on Golf Club Road in 1916. The nine-hole layout plays 3,058 yards at par 36 across terrain marked by grass-covered mounds and steady bay breezes.
Reaching the course requires a ferry from Lincolnville Beach, adding to its secluded character. The Islesboro Open, an informal tradition since the early 1980s, brings together summer residents and year-round locals in twice-yearly scrambles that raise money for island programs. A driving range is available for warming up before the round.
