Roaring Gap Club

Roaring Gap Club is a private mountain club in the Blue Ridge foothills of Alleghany County, at an elevation that provides cooler summer temperatures than the Piedmont below. The par-72 course plays 6,200 yards, a moderate distance that accounts for the mountain air and steep elevation changes. A driving range is available for members and their guests.

The club dates to the early 20th century, when Roaring Gap became a summer retreat for prominent North Carolina families. The course design takes advantage of mountain ridges and valleys, with several holes featuring dramatic drops from tee to green. Long views of the Blue Ridge add to the setting. The club operates on a seasonal schedule, with peak activity from late spring through fall. Membership is limited and private, maintaining the small-community character that has defined Roaring Gap for over a century.
