Sound of Freedom Golf Course

Sound of Freedom Golf Course is the on-base course at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Craven County. The 18-hole, par-72 layout plays 6,599 yards through flat coastal terrain, with economy pricing geared toward active-duty military, retirees, and DOD civilians. A driving range is available on-site.

The course name reflects the sound of military aircraft overhead, a constant feature of the base environment. The layout uses the flat Coastal Plain terrain with ponds, ditches, and wooded borders to define the holes. Access is limited to those with base privileges, which keeps pace of play manageable. The New Bern area has several other courses nearby, including Taberna Country Club and Carolina Colours, for golfers who also have off-base memberships or guest access.
