Newman Grove Golf Course

Newman Grove Golf Course, also known as Shell Creek Valley Golf Course, is one of Nebraska’s remaining sand greens courses. The 9-hole layout plays just 1,813 yards at par 36 off Burrows Street in Newman Grove, making it one of the shorter regulation courses in the state. Despite the compact yardage, mature trees and well-kept fairways give the course more character than its measurements suggest. The sand greens are small, requiring players to smooth their own putting surface with a drag after each hole.

The course is part of the Newman Grove City Park, which also includes picnic shelters and a swimming pool. Maintenance is handled by local volunteers, and the welcoming atmosphere reflects the small-town community spirit of Madison County. Green fees are economy-level, and no tee times or driving range are available — players simply show up and play.
