About This Course
Farmstead Golf and Country Club in Lafayette was built by Byron Phoebus on 275 acres of former dairy farmland that the Phoebus family purchased in 1961. The first nine holes (Clubview) opened in June 1963 at $1.50 a round. Lakeview followed in 1965, and the final nine, Valleyview, opened on July 18, 1979. The facility now has 27 holes, with this nine playing 3,370 yards at par 36.
The Phoebus family still owns and operates the course. There is no driving range on site. The property includes a 20-acre pond and sits in Sussex County’s rolling northwestern New Jersey terrain. Green fees fall in the premium range for public play, and Farmstead provides one of the larger golf facilities in the state’s northwest corner.
