Valle Escondido Golf Course and Home Owners Association

Valle Escondido Golf Course sits in the Tienditas Valley about 12 miles east of Taos, built by homeowners in the small mountain community using shovels and a backhoe in the early 1960s. The 9-hole layout plays 2,900 yards at par 36 at roughly 7,500 feet elevation, with the Carson National Forest bordering the property. It is one of the few courses in the United States that uses no pesticides, relying entirely on natural rainfall and mountain runoff to maintain its fairways.

The walking-only course follows the valley floor through a narrow corridor surrounded by ponderosa pine and spruce. Mountain streams and natural terrain features create hazards on several holes. Valle Escondido operates as part of the homeowners association, with a clubhouse that serves as a community gathering point during the short mountain golf season, which typically runs from May through October.
