Oklahoma Golf Courses
Oklahoma has 196 golf courses, with about 120 offering 18 holes and the remainder playing as nine-hole layouts scattered through smaller towns. Tulsa and its eastern suburbs, including Broken Arrow, Owasso, and Bartlesville, anchor the Green Country region, where blackjack oaks line fairways and creeks regularly come into play on rolling terrain. Oklahoma City has the largest metro concentration, with courses spread across Edmond, Norman, and the surrounding prairie. City pages cover 15 metro areas and towns for easier browsing.
The state’s tribal nations operate several casino-resort courses at competitive prices, and state park courses at locations like Beavers Bend, Roman Nose, and Lake Murray add affordable options in scenic settings. Stillwater, home to Oklahoma State’s college golf program, has multiple courses nearby. Enid, Shawnee, Ada, and Duncan each maintain local clubs that keep green fees low. The western Panhandle and far northwest have the fewest options, with nine-hole community courses in towns like Beaver and Cimarron County.
The season stretches March through November, and mild winters often allow play into December and January. Summers run hot, frequently exceeding 95 degrees, so early morning tee times are standard June through August. Bermuda grass is the primary turfgrass statewide, performing well in the heat but going dormant and brown from late November through March. Wind is a bigger factor than most visitors expect, particularly on the flatter western courses. Pricing is affordable across the board, with the majority of public courses falling in the Economy and Standard categories.
