Oregon Golf Courses
Oregon has 189 golf courses split roughly 60/40 between 18-hole and nine-hole layouts. The Cascade Range divides the state into two distinct golf climates. West of the mountains, the Portland metro and Willamette Valley hold the largest concentration of courses, staying green year-round in mild, wet conditions. Portland alone has a city page listing over a dozen options, and Salem, Eugene, and Vancouver (WA side, but served by courses in the Oregon metro) add still more. Rain is frequent from October through May on this side, but temperatures rarely drop below freezing and courses stay open through winter.
East of the Cascades, the character shifts completely. Bend has become a golf hub with eight courses in the area, running through juniper and ponderosa pine under 300 days of sunshine. Redmond and Sisters add more options in Central Oregon, where the season runs roughly May through October and dry air keeps conditions firm. Bandon Dunes Resort on the southern coast is in a class of its own, with five links-style courses playing on sandy bluffs above the Pacific. Ocean wind is constant at Bandon, and the playing style rewards low shots and creative short-game work. Other coastal towns like Gearhart and Florence offer more affordable seaside rounds.
The Rogue Valley around Medford, Grants Pass, and Roseburg provides warmer temperatures and a longer playing window than the rest of western Oregon. Public access is strong statewide, and pricing is reasonable outside the resort tier. Most daily-fee courses fall in the Standard range, with Bandon and a few Portland-area private clubs being the notable exceptions at higher price points.
