Rocky Knolls Golf Course

Rocky Knolls Golf Course is located about two-thirds of a mile west of downtown Custer along Highway 16. The nine-hole layout plays 3,084 yards at par 32 through mature Ponderosa Pine forests in the Southern Black Hills. The tree-lined fairways demand accuracy off the tee, and the natural rock formations and elevation changes give the course a character distinct from the open prairie layouts found elsewhere in the state.

The course is public and affordable, with tee times available up to 14 days in advance. There is no driving range, but the setting more than compensates. The season runs from mid-April through fall, weather permitting. Rocky Knolls is a popular stop for golfers touring the Black Hills, offering a short but memorable round between visits to Custer State Park and the other area attractions.
