Utah Golf Courses
Utah has 114 golf courses shaped by the state’s extreme elevation differences. The Wasatch Front from Ogden through Salt Lake City to Provo holds the majority, with municipal courses dominating the mix. Green fees along this corridor stay under $50 at most public facilities, making it one of the more affordable metro golf markets in the western U.S. Salt Lake City and Sandy support the densest concentration, while Ogden adds several courses to the north, including Davis Park and Mount Ogden. South of Salt Lake, the Provo and Orem area rounds out the urban options with courses like Timpanogos Golf Club in the shadow of the Wasatch Range.
St. George in the southwest is the year-round golf hub, drawing winter visitors when the rest of the state is shut down. Courses like Sand Hollow, Entrada at Snow Canyon, Coral Canyon, and Sunbrook play through red sandstone formations at around 3,000 feet, where January highs reach the mid-50s. The Hurricane and St. George area has expanded steadily and now accounts for a meaningful share of the state’s total course count. Park City and the Heber Valley sit above 6,000 feet, playing through aspen and pine forests. Soldier Hollow, a 36-hole state park complex in Midway, offers two courses with panoramic views of Mount Timpanogos and the surrounding peaks.
Salt Lake area courses open in late March and close by late October. Mountain courses in Park City and Midway typically run mid-May through mid-October, with shorter windows in higher terrain. Summer golf across the state benefits from low humidity and dry conditions, with afternoon thunderstorms the main weather interruption. Tooele west of Salt Lake adds a few courses on the other side of the Oquirrh Mountains, and Logan in Cache Valley provides the northernmost options.
