About This Course
Longwood Golf Course was a nine-hole university-owned course in Farmville, built as a Works Progress Administration project during the Great Depression. The par-35 layout played 3,055 yards adjacent to the circa-1815 Longwood House, about a mile from the Longwood University campus. During the school’s years as a Division II institution, the women’s golf team won five national championships while using the course as its home facility.
The course was repurposed in 2016, with the land converted to serve as the home of Longwood’s men’s and women’s cross country teams. An 18-hole disc golf course now occupies the former ball golf layout. The property no longer operates as a traditional golf course. Golfers in Farmville can still play at the nearby Farmville Municipal Golf Course.
