About This Course

Bear Creek Golf Course is a nine-hole public course in the Methow Valley, between the towns of Winthrop and Twisp in north-central Washington. The course sits on the former Ortell cattle ranch at the base of Studhorse Mountain. In 1948, ex-Seattle fireman Herman Court purchased the 480-acre spread, began planning a golf course in 1952, and started construction in 1965. By 1969, Bear Creek had grown into a regulation-length nine-hole layout. Ash and Linda Court bought the course back in May 2012.

The par-36 course plays 3,168 yards and features alternate tee placements for a varied 18-hole round. A driving range, disc golf, and fling golf are also available. The pro shop sells snacks, beer, and wine, and an upper deck offers views of the Sawtooth Wilderness. Green fees are in the standard range, making it an affordable option for Methow Valley visitors.
